A green project for Via Palazzuolo, and in September the first 7 new artisans

The “Recreos” project, backed by the Cr Firenze Foundation and the Municipality of Florence, aims to turn Via Palazzuolo and Via Maso Finiguerra into an artisans’ district by 2026. It includes the renovation of 43 vacant shops, which will be offered rent-free for three years to new artisan businesses.

The project involves creating pedestrian-friendly zones, adding greenery and benches, widening sidewalks, and improving lighting. A key feature will be a “low-traffic zone” between Via Maso Finiguerra and Via del Porcellana, while parking will be reorganized to benefit residents.

The initiative has already attracted over 220 expressions of interest from artisans and creatives. The plan is inspired by vibrant neighborhoods like Notting Hill and Dumbo, aiming to create a lively, socially engaging street that stays active even in the evenings.

The project is seen as a replicable model for other cities, fostering high-quality urban life and artisanal excellence while revitalizing a once-degraded area.
